The experiences of a fumbling runner. Race reports, product reviews, questions (and answers, if I can find any), and other subjects related to the wide world of running.
Who am I?
I'm relatively new to the sport of running, and even newer to the ultramarathon scene. I started running in February 2011 when a friend challenged me to do a 1 mile run. I was in the middle of my first round of P90X and I felt like I was in good enough shape to knock out a mile. Knowing nothing about pace, breathing, form, etc., I set out to show him that I could do it ...and I thought I was going to die. That experience lit a fire somewhere inside to push harder and see what I could accomplish. I soon registered for my first 4.2 mile run, Pat's Run, and began training. I completed a St. Patrick's Day run before Pat's Run and then started training for my first half marathon. By July of 2011, I had completed my first half and was registered for my second. My running has evolved from that point to completing my first ultra in Feb. 2012 (San Tan Scramble 50k). Since then, I have completed a few more ultras and have many more on the schedule or the bucket list.
