Treatment for a hopeless hip
It's hard not getting discouraged about this hip issue. I'm impatient. I'm back up to 5 miles now, but the 3.5 week break from running had other unintended consequences. I went running today on the treadmill (2% grade) and could only pull off a 10:42 pace for 5 miles. That put me at 53:30 for a 5 miler. Ugh. Nasty. Of course, I went out too hard at the beginning, which may have ruined my run. I'll have to make a note next time to start at a modest pace and then work my way up. It wasn't that I couldn't run faster, but I was wearing a heart rate monitor and my heart rate was at 95% of my max. That's discouraging because when I did the marathon, I could easily pull off a sub-9 pace at ~80%. So, I have some work to do.
